Dhull advances to regional semis in singles and doubles final with partner Truong

Konika Dhull will play in the semifinal matches in both singles and doubles on Monday.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Skidmore College women's tennis standout Konika Dhull advanced to the semifinal round in singles and with partner Grace Truong moved on to the doubles final on Sunday in the second day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Northeast Regional Championship hosted at Skidmore.
  • Dhull and Truong will play NYU's Victoria Wang and Siona Vallabhaneni in the doubles final on Monday. Both pairs have qualified for the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia in October.
  • After the pair cruised to the quarterfinals yesterday with an 8-2 victory over Mannan/Perinkolam of The College of New Jersey, they advanced to the semis with an 8-4 triumph over RPI's Jones/Jaiswal in the quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon.
  • Closing out the evening in the semifinal round, the Thoroughbred pair knocked out Saborio/Mcdaniel from RIT 8-1. The other semi saw Wang/Vallabhaneni defeat Rochester's team of Libby/Yang 8-5 to set up the Skidmore vs. NYU final.
  • Dhull won four more matches on Sunday. She's a perfect 8-0 in the tournament.
  • The singles draw Round of 16 went Dhull's way after two sets when her opponent, Lorna Flores Gonzalez of Rensselaer, retired due to an injury. Flores Gonzales won the first set, 6-3, and Dhull got the second by the same score.
  • Then, in the quarterfinals, she won a grueling three-setter 6-3, 4-6, 7-6(7-1) over 2024 Liberty League Player of the Year Erin McCusker of Vassar. Dhull has defeated McCusker three times in a row.
  • Dhull will face Victoria Wang of New York University in Monday morning's semifinal. They will rematch later for the doubles final.
  • Also in singles, Ella Provost advanced to the quarterfinals thanks to a 6-4, 6-1 win over Samantha Jacobs, She later fell to Isabella Hartman 6-2, 6-0.
  • In the Round of 16, Beilynn Geiss came up short in a back-and-forth battle with Hartman. Geiss claimed the first set in a tiebreaker before Hartman came back with 6-4 wins in the second and third sets to advance.
  • Coco Prokop was the other day-two qualifier for Skidmore. She went to the wire with Nicole Ridenour (RPI) in the Round of 16, but lost an extended third-set tiebreak 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(11-9).
 
UP NEXT
The semifinals will be played on Monday morning and the two championship matches will take place following the conclusion of the semis at the outdoor courts at the McCaffery-Wagman Tennis and Wellness Center.
