SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – With home court advantage on their side, the Skidmore College women's tennis team took full advantage by putting forth a superb first day of competition as host of the 2024 ITA Regionals. The Thoroughbreds advanced four onto the Round of 16 in singles play, as well as one doubles team to the second round.
SINGLES PERFORMERS
- Seeded second in the whole bracket, senior Konika Dhull took care of business with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Ellie Mcdermed of St. Lawrence in the Round of 64, before defeating NYU's Vera Bondarenko 7-5, 7-5 in the Round of 32.
- Also making her way to the Round of 16, senior Ella Provost first won a nail-biter against RPI's Victoria Sarabosing before crusing past Maya Mcdaniel of RIT 6-3, 6-2.
- Junior Beilynn Geiss cruised to a Round of 16 berth after defeating Hamilton's Hannah Apsey 6-3, 6-3 and following up with a 6-2, 6-2 victory against William Smith's Haley Levine.
- Sophomore Coco Prokop advanced to the Round of 16 after first beating TCNJ's Sonya Pereldik 7-5, 6-1 in the Round of 64, before clinching a hard-fought battle against Chara Meidani of Union to advance.
- Freshman Juliette Ceas defeated Jade Gautier of NYU 6-2, 7-6 (10-8) in the Round of 64, before falling in the following round to Ithaca's Taylor Crain.
DOUBLES PERFORMERS
- The Skidmore senior duo of Dhull and Grace Truong easily won their Round of 32 matchup over Union's Alphabet and Jacobs, 8-2, to advance onto the Round of 16.
