MSOC Recruiting Class 2024

Men’s soccer announces incoming recruiting class

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - On August 18, Skidmore Men's Soccer reports back to campus to begin their preseason preparation. Coach Campion is excited to welcome his returners as well as the 10 incoming first-year students and one transfer to the program.

Jed Dougherty - Natick, MA, Intercontinental Football Academy and Roxbury Latin School, Defender/Midfielder

Jed is a versatile player who has the ability to play midfield and outside back at a high-level. As a coaching staff, we like his willingness to pressure and defend as well as his technical skill in 1v1 attacking moments. We also identified Jed as a caring and supportive individual who already has personal ties to our school with his father being an alum of Skidmore. Jed's IFA club team just won the u19 NAL National Championship and we believe this success will carry over to Skidmore as he will provide immediate competition in our group.

Smith Flickinger - Winnetka, IL, FC Lakeshore and North Shore Country Day, Defender

Smith was an early commit to Skidmore and will be joining our program after a great career at North Shore Country Day in the northern Chicago area. In the recruitment process, his coaches and teammates could not say enough positive things about him as a leader, mentor, and teammate. I am excited for him to bring these qualities into our group and strengthen our team culture. On the field, Smith is a defender that is capable of playing throughout the backline and I am encouraged by his potential to develop within our group.

Henry Fogel - South Pasadena, CA, Emerson College (Transfer) and FC Golden State Force, Defender

Henry is someone we identified in the transfer portal early this spring that fit a positional need for us and had proven himself as a consistent starter at a competitive Division III program. After getting to know Henry better, we quickly understood that he was an individual who will make a positive impact on our program and Skidmore community. Henry's speed, composure, and experience will elevate the left-side of our backline. I am excited for him to start his new journey in our political science department and in Saratoga Springs.

Kyle Girouard - Chicopee, MA, IFA West and Loomis Chaffee School (PG Year), Midfield

Kyle is a technical midfielder with deceptive on-ball movements and excellent passing vision. He also works incredibly hard on the defensive side and is very intelligent in his second-ball positioning. As Kyle develops on-field connections with our forwards and attacking players his ability to unlock teams will only enhance. During the recruitment process, all the coaches and players that worked with Kyle said he was an outstanding teammate and brought positivity to their team dynamic. I am looking forward to working with Kyle and him contributing to our midfield core.

Jeremy Hocheiser - Manalapan, NJ, Players Development Academy and Manalapan High School, Defender

We were excited to hear that Jeremy was interested in attending Skidmore and playing with his brother Josh Hocheiser who's a rising Junior. Jeremy will join us as a skillful outside back who can provide strong 1v1 defensive performances and great understanding of defensive positioning on the field. On the ball, Jeremy has the technical ability to play out of difficult situations and the energy to join in the attack consistently. We expected Jeremy to seamlessly transition into our program as he already has a good understanding of who we are.

Joshua Mair - Kingston, Jamaica, IFA West and Suffield Academy, Defender

We really enjoyed getting to know Joshua and his family throughout the recruiting process. Throughout our conversations with them and his coaches we've quickly identified that Joshua's mentality and intensity for the game will have an immediate impact on our team. Joshua will add a mix of physicality and technical ability to our backline. He's a strong center back who is calm and composed in possession but can also physically impose himself into the game and disrupt attacking players.

Rowan McLear - Newton, MA, New England Futbol Club and International Development Academy (Gap Year in Valencia, Spain), Goalkeeper

Rowan is a technically well-rounded goalkeeper that's going to add experience and outstanding workrate to our goalkeeping core. Rowan spent the past year living in Valencia, Spain playing for International Development Academy. This experience allowed Rowan to grow as a player in a high-level setting. He's a smart goalkeeper who has impressive reflexes to handle close-range shots and can pull off big saves to keep his team in the games. He's also proficient playing out of the back and can break down attacking pressure by passing through the lines.

Dylan Moore - Floral Park, NY, East Meadow SC and Floral Park High School, Forward

Dylan is the type of forward that we believe will fit in our new style of play and system. Dylan showcases a great understanding of how to pressure properly and take smart angles of approach in his tackling. Dylan is also very crafty on the ball, especially with his height, and is able to work through difficult 1v1 situations and create attacking chances. Lastly, Dylan will provide hard, determined running in the box to get on the end of crosses and cut-back balls.

Adam Murray - Milton, MA, New England Surf and Buckingham Browne & Nicholas Upper School, Midfield

Adam is another recruit that committed early on to Skidmore and is coming from an excellent high school and club background. Adam is a hard working outside midfielder that has the understanding to play within our system and complete the necessary responsibilities on the attacking and defensive side. He has a direct approach in the attack and is eager to take on defenders in 1v1 situations. Adam also has the vision, while driving at full speed, to pick out players in the attack third and within the box.

Gavin Wheeler - Concord, NH, Seacoast United and Proctor Academy (PG Year), Midfield

Gavin is someone I actually noticed as a young high school player in New Hampshire when I was coaching at New England College. Ironically, we reconnected on one of my first days on the job this spring. Gavin comes to Skidmore after completing a post-graduate year at Proctor Academy. He is a true box-to-box midfielder that is able to combine and improvise in higher areas as well as read the game and consistently intercept passes. I look forward to Gavin injecting competition into our midfield core and pushing the level of our team.

Marcus Murphy - Mamaroneck, NY, Cheshire Academy, Goalkeeper

Marcus stood out very quickly in the recruiting process due to his physical tools and impressive athleticism for his 6'4" stature. We see Marcus as an exciting addition to our roster who provides a different player profile to our goalkeeper core and incredible potential. He has the ability to dominate his box in crossing situations and his distribution can catch teams on the counter attack. We are looking forward to Marcus joining the team and developing under the guidance of Assistant Coach Ryan Henning.
