MILL SPRING, N.C. – The Skidmore College riding team opened defense of its national title as it picked up a pair of points in the first of three days at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championship being held at the Tryon International Equestrian Center in North Carolina.

• There was one team event and two individual classes held on Friday that Skidmore had competitors in.
• Skidmore earned a pair of points in the Team Limit Flat with Charlotte Lyon.
• Getting things going, Kenya Sanders played sixth in the Individual Open Over Fences.
• Harper Sanford was fourth in the Individual Open Equitation On the Flat.
• Savannah College of Art and Design won the first team event and leads the way with 10 points.
• Skidmore's region rival St. Lawrence was second, and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College was third.
• Competition continues Saturday, starting at 8 a.m., with four team events and the final three on Sunday.
