SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The No. 43 Skidmore College women's tennis team earned its third Liberty League victory in as many matches as the Thoroughbreds swept William Smith College 9-0. Skidmore improves to 5-3 overall, while the Herons are 4-8 (0-3 Liberty League).
- Skidmore improves to 33-1 all-time against William Smith with 24 consecutive victories.
- The Thoroughbreds dropped just five games in total in sweeping the three doubles matches
- All six singles matches were won in straight sets with five of them allowing two-or-fewer sets lost.
- Konika Dhull won at No. 1 doubles with Grace Truong before posting a 6-0, 6-2 win at first singles.
- Truong won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
- The second doubles pairing of Katie Wong and Ella Provost won 8-2 before they were victorious at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively
- Both partners at No. 3 doubles, Katherine Almquist and Beilynn Geiss, went on to capture their singles matches by identical scores of 6-1, 6-0
- From head coach Curt Speerschneider: "Nice way to start a three-match weekend. We wanted to maintain good energy throughout and were able to do that. That converted to a good level of play, which obviously gave us some decisive wins."
- The match was played indoors at the YMCA-Wilton.
UP NEXT: The Thoroughbreds face two conference foes on Sunday with a home contest against Rochester Institute of Technology at 9 a.m. and a road match at Bard College at 3 p.m.
