SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Individual qualifiers for the riding team had a spectacular showing at Regional Finals, with seven riders qualified for Zone 2 Finals by placing first or second in their classes.
The day started as many regular season shows had, with strong showings from Skidmore riders in the Open Fences. All riders demonstrated excellent style in the first round, and the judge called for further testing.
Kenya Sanders '26 came out on top with the Championship, and
Aidan McNamara '27 was Reserve Champion.
Sophia Olivero '26 finished in fifth.
Harper Sanford '25,
Kayla Piper '24 and
Elaina Doyle '24 competed next in the Intermediate Fences, which was similarly competitive. Sanford finished with the Championship ribbon, with Piper in sixth and Doyle in seventh.
Several riders returned to compete in the afternoon's flat classes. Sanders added win to her collection with the Open Flat Championship, and Sanford was Reserve Champion. Olivero was Reserve Champion in the Intermediate Flat. Three riders represented in the Limit Flat, and this time Piper rode to the Championship.
Isa Jensen '27 was Reserve Champion, and Doyle returned to ride for fourth. The day finished with strong rides in the Introductory Equitation, with
Emma Jennison '24 winning the Championship, and
Alice Condry-Power '24 taking third.
Qualified individuals and the team will travel to Zone 2 Finals at North Shore Equestrian Center/Long Island Post University, where they will compete for a place at the IHSA National Championship Horse Show in Tryon, North Carolina.
