Box Score TROY, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's tennis team claimed two out of three doubles matches before sweeping singles for an 8-1 Liberty League win at RPI on Saturday afternoon.
- Skidmore, ranked 38th nationally, is 4-3 and 2-0 in the Liberty League. RPI is 7-4 and 1-1.
- Skidmore is 23-0 against RPI all-time.
- Beilynn Geiss, Ella Provost, Katherine Almquist, and Grace Truong all went 2-0 on the day.
- Geiss and Provos took down Krumpel/Flores 8-4 at No. 2 doubles.
- In the third match, Almquist and Truong teamed up for an 8-5 win over Rapur, Bauer.
- Geiss went on to win in three sets (6-2, 2-6, 11-9) against Karach at No. 6 singles.
- Provost got through a first-set tiebreak for the win (7-6[7-3], 7-5).
- Almquist dropped just one game in her sweep of Bauer at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0).
- Truong got past Rapur at No. 2, 6-1, 6-4.
- Konika Dhull took revenge on L. Flores, who beat her earlier in doubles, with a swift 6-4, 6-1 victory.
- Katie Wong defeated K. Flores 6-2, 6-1 in the third singles match.
- From head coach Curt Speerschneider: "Good to get back on the competition court after more than two weeks. We were able to do a lot of what we've been working on, which was good to see. The main thing is that the team is continuing to work hard with open minds and are eager to get to the next level. I think they're in a great spot to start peaking in the next few weeks, which is what we want heading into the last part of the season."
- NEXT UP: Skidmore has three league games next weekend; at home against William Smith (Saturday) and RPI (Sunday) as well as a road match at Bard (Sunday).
