Blanck D3hoops All-America 2024

Blanck a D3hoops.com All-American

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Senior forward Julia Blanck of the Skidmore College women's basketball team was named to the D3hoops.com All-America Fourth Team as announced by the organization on Saturday, March 16.

Blanck, one of the 25 players in the country named to the D3hoops.com All-America squad, earned a spot on the fourth team. There were five teams of five players selected. The honor comes six years to the day after Skidmore's second and most recent D3hoops.com All-American, Kelly Donnelly, was an honorable mention selection in 2018. Blanck and Donnelly join Sarah McEachron (1999) as the only three players in program history to appear on the D3hoops.com All-America team.

The 2024 D3hoops.com All-America team is in its 27th year. These are chosen by D3hoops.com staff in consultation with All-Region voting results from players nominated for All-Region. Blanck is the only player from the Liberty League to be named an All-American and one of just two players from Region III (Brianna Fitzgerald – SUNY New Paltz).

Blanck was recently honored as a Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division III Coaches' All-America honorable mention selection in addition to her D3hoops.com All-Region First Team honors. In late February, Blanck became the first player in league history, men's or women's, to be voted the Liberty League Player of the Year and Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year. She was also on the All-Liberty League First Team.

The Hinesburg, Vermont native averaged 13.2 points and 10.3 rebounds in 2023-24 year to lead Skidmore. She led the Liberty League with 2.2 blocks per game, 56 total, and finished second in total rebounds and in offensive rebounding (3.4) and fifth in steals (1.8). Prior to this weekend's championship, Blanck is ranked 29th in the nation in blocks and 69th in rebounds. Her 13 double-doubles also ranks in the top-50 in Division III.

Skidmore head coach Jessica Turner was recently quoted in an article on skidmore.edu reflecting on Blanck's successes, "seeing her every day at practice. She's a great kid and an absolute pleasure to be around, super encouraging, and her teammates' biggest fan. I would have personally loved to play with her in college. I think that says it all."

Skidmore (22-5) earned the number two seed in the Liberty League Tournament and advanced to the title game for the second year in a row. The Thoroughbreds were not chosen to participate in the NCAA Tournament as an at-large selection after Vassar claimed the league's automatic qualifier.
