Blanck named Liberty League Player and Defensive Player of the Year; Medolla on Honorable Mention

TROY, N.Y. – Skidmore College women's basketball senior Julia Blanck was named the Liberty League Player of the Year, Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year, and was voted to the All-Liberty League First Team. Additionally, junior Amelia Medolla earned All-Liberty League Honorable Mention honors.

  • Blanck is Skidmore's first women's basketball conference player of the year since Kelly Donnelly did it three seasons in a row (2016-18) including two Co-Player of the Year. She is also Skidmore's second Defensive Player of the Year and first since Jordyn Wartts in 2013.
  • She is also the first player in Liberty League history to win both awards in the same season.
  • In 29 games played, Blanck averaged a double-double on 13.2 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. She led the Liberty League by a large margin with 2.2 blocks per game, while ranking seventh in scoring, second in rebounding, and fifth with 1.8 steals per game.
  • Consistently dominant on both ends of the floor, Blanck tallied 13 double-doubles, including five games of at least 20 points and 10 games with at least a dozen rebounds. She currently ranks nationally in blocks (27th), double-doubles (42nd), and rebounds (60th).
  • In just three seasons played, Blanck will graduate having scored 834 points and pulling down 783 rebounds. The career marks are 20th and sixth, respectively, in program history. She also finished second with 162 blocks.
  • Blanck was named the Liberty League Performer of the Week three times in the 2023-24 season (11/13, 1/8, 1/22).
 
Amelia Medolla (#12, Jr., G, Little Silver, New Jersey) – All-Liberty League Honorable Mention
  • Medolla played each of Skidmore's 27 games and made 25 starts. She finished with 6.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.26 assists per game.
  • Her assist to turnover ratio of 1.13 ranks as one of the highest in the Liberty League.
  • Medolla finished in double figures in scoring eight times including on Nov. 4 at Oneonta where she scored 19.
  • She also went on a four-game stretch from Jan. 6-13 where she averaged 13.75 points per game with at least 10 in each contest.
  • As a member of Skidmore's league-best defense, she also tallied nine steals and six blocks.
