MATCHUP:
- Both squads were victorious on home court on Friday to reach the title game.
- Skidmore beat Ithaca in an overtime thriller, 66-62. Andi Levitz banked a 3-pointer from long range with under 16 seconds left to send the game to overtime, where the Thoroughbreds outscored the Bombers 9-5 to advance to their second consecutive title game. Cassie Davidson had 16 points while Julia Blanck scored 13 with 18 rebounds.
- Vassar fought off a resilient Union squad, 64-53, to advance. Tova Gelb scored 20 points for the Brewers and Sierra McDermed had 17.
- Skidmore and Vassar have not faced off since Jan. 9. Vassar beat Skidmore in Saratoga in December, 54-51 and had a narrow 61-58 win in Poughkeepsie in January.
- Statistically, Skidmore ranks fourth in DIII allowing just 45.1 points per game and sixth in turnovers per game (12.3). Both lead the league.
- Vassar has the 43rd-best scoring margin (+14.9) in the nation and is 25th in 3-point percentage defense (24.4 percent) and eighth in winning percentage (92.3 percent).
- Skidmore's only two losses since November were to Vassar.
- Vassar's only losses this year are against New Paltz and William Smith.
- In the past six weeks, the two championship teams have lost just one game combined.
SERIES/POSTSEASON:
- Vassar won both games this year after Skidmore claimed all three last season, including the semifinal victory in Saratoga Springs.
- Before last year's success against the Brewers, Vassar had won seven in a row over the Thoroughbreds.
- Overall, Skidmore leads the all-time series against Vassar 34-27. This is the 62nd meeting between the schools in women's basketball.
- Skidmore and Vassar have never met in a Liberty League championship game.
- Skidmore is seeking its fourth Liberty League title (2015, 2018, 2023) and second in a row.
- With a win, Vassar will also claim its fourth Liberty League championship, and first since 2014 (2011, 2012, 2014).
