Thoroughbreds blanked 4-0 by visiting New Paltz

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to SUNY New Paltz at home on Saturday afternoon.
 
  • New Paltz remains unbeaten at 5-0-1.
  • Skidmore falls to 1-2-2.
  • Four different players scored for the visitors.
  • Gabriel Cruz made it 1-0 Hawks in the ninth minute when he earned a takeaway from the Skidmore defense before ripping a shot past the keeper from long range.
  • New Paltz doubled its lead on a Brandon Davenport shot from just beyond the 18 after the ball deflected back to him from a clustered group several yards ahead.
  • Owen McGarrity scored on a header off a corner to make it 3-0 in the 58th minute.
  • Joseph DiPreta connected on a Davenport pass to complete the scoring in the 78th minute.
  • Shots finished 23-8 for the visitors.
  • Ben Gibeau had seven saves for the Thoroughbreds.
  • Christian Micheli had four saves for the Hawks in 81:06 of action. Joe Washington played the final 8:54 without incident.  
NEXT UP: Skidmore will travel to Ramapo College on Wednesday.
