SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—More than 85 student athletes participated in the 6
th Skidmore Out of the Darkness Campus Walk held April 30 to support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
"We raised over $5400 to prevent suicide and to fund advocacy and programs to support those impacted by suicide." Said Robert Cardom, Skidmore counseling center director and licensed psychologist. "I was moved to see so students come out—even on a drizzling Sunday afternoon—as a visible display of support for mental health and wellness at Skidmore and in the community. "
The Walk is the AFSP signature student fundraising series, designed to engage youth and young adults in the fight to prevent suicide, a leading cause of death.
