Offense comes to life in Thoroughbred 10-2, 16-5 sweep of Delhi

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College softball team scored 26 runs on 28 hits in a 10-2, 16-5 sweep of SUNY Delhi Saturday afternoon at Wagner Park. The Thoroughbreds have won four straight to improve to 7-10, while the Mustangs drop to 3-15.
 
GAME 1
  • Down 2-0, Skidmore scored twice in the first and the second to take a 4-2 lead. The Thoroughbreds added two in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the sixth to end the game.
  • Meghan Robertson smacked a two-run homerun in the second inning. She was 1-4 with two RBI.
  • Carolina Garcia was 2-3 with an RBI double. Madison Bonham went 2-2 with an RBI double and sac fly. Naté Burley was 1-1 with a sac fly of her own.
  • Lindsey Raimondi improved to 5-4 with the complete game win. She allowed two unearned runs on five hits, with three walks and six strikeouts.
 
GAME 2
  • Skidmore spotted Delhi a 5-0 lead, heading into the bottom of the second. The Thoroughbreds responded with four in the second and two in the third, before plating 10 runs in a wild fourth inning for the 16-5 game that ended after 4 ½ innings.
  • Skidmore sent 14 batters to the plate in the fourth inning. Scoring 10 runs on 10 hits and one costly error.
  • Claire Stone was 3-3 with three of the team's eight doubles, tying a program record. She had two RBI and two runs. Melissa Mathias was 3-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI. Chloe McGonagle was 3-4 with a double.
  • Robertson had another big game at the plate, going 2-3 with two doubles and four RBI. Elle Harrison had her first two collegiate hits, going 2-3 with two runs. Franny Casillas went 2-4 with two runs and two RBI.
  • Madi Gambino picked-up her first collegiate win in relief. She tossed three shutout innings, allowing one hit and walking three.
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore heads to Utica College on April 11 for its final two non-league games of the season.
