SKIDMORE
- The Thoroughbreds knocked off top-seed Ithaca College on the road, 54-52 to win its third Liberty League Championship. Skidmore's record since Jan. 1 against teams NOT named Ithaca is 16-0. The Bombers beat the Thoroughbreds twice in the regular season, but Skidmore prevailed in the postseason.
- Julia Blanck lead a balanced offense that doesn't have a single player averaging in double digits. A Liberty League First-Team selection, Blanck is averaging 8.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, 1.3 steals, and 1.1 assists per game.
- Skidmore goes deep with 11 players averaging 11+ minutes per game. There are seven players scoring 5.9 points or more per game.
- The team is allowing only 51.81 points per game and holding opponents to 33.5% from the floor and 28.0% from beyond the arc.
- Skidmore's 22 wins are the most in the program's 47 varsity seasons.
- Skidmore is playing in its third NCAA Tournament. The Thoroughbreds lost to St. John Fisher 62-60 in overtime at Tufts in 2015 and 70-66 to FDU-Florham at Bowdoin in 2018.
- This will be the first meeting between Skidmore and Hopkins. The Thoroughbreds are 0-4 all-time vs. Tufts and have not played USMMA.
JOHNS HOPKINS
- The Blue Jays received an at-large berth after finishing second in the Centennial Conference Championships, losing to Gettysburg in the championship game.
- This will be the 13th tournament appearance. The team is 14-12 all-time in NCAA Tournament play and played in the Elite Eight in 1997 and 1998.
- Olivia Parisi leads Hopkins in scoring with 11.2 points per game. She is the lone player in double figures. Similar to Skidmore, there are 12 players averaging 11+ minutes per game. The team averages 57.33 points, while allowing only 46.85 per game.
TUFTS
- The 18th ranked Jumbos won the NESCAC championship 57-38 over Trinity. The team will be making its 14th NCAA appearance and hosting the first-round pod for the ninth straight season. Tufts has made 10 straight Sweet 16s and been to the Elite 8 seven times and Final Four four times. The team is 37-14 in NCAA tournament play.
- Maggie Russell leads three players in double figures with 19.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. Tufts averages 66.26 points and 6.19 threes per game.
- Common opponents include: Williams (W, 64-50), Middlebury (W, 68-59/W, 74-39), Wesleyan (W, 72-60), and Trinity (W 57-56, W 57-38). Skidmore: Williams (W, 70-56), Wesleyan (W, 67-57), Middlebury (L, 53-29), Trinity (L 59-57).
USMMA
- Merchant Marine beat Manhattanville 56-47 to win the Skyline Conference title game. It will be the third NCAA Tournament for the Mariners who played in 2019 and 2020.
- Lauren Hunter is among the top scorers in the country with 20.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. USMMA is scoring a lofty 69.5 points per game, while allowing only 49.23 points.
- The Mariners have won 14 straight and 21 of 22. Only two of their last 14 games have been decided by fewer than 10 points.
