WILTON, N.Y. – The 28th-ranked Skidmore College women's tennis team defeated #33 Wellesley College on Saturday afternoon at home, 7-2.

  • Beilynn Geiss and Konika Dhull both won twice for Skidmore (2-1). They joined forces at third doubles for an 8-4 win. Dhull was victorious at fifth singles (6-1, 7-5), while Geiss grabbed another victory at sixth singles (6-2, 6-4).
  • Maya Lal and Chanhtel Thongphok were victorious at second doubles, 8-4.
  • At singles, Maya Lal won her first set in the first spot before dropping that match in three.
  • Grace Truong battled back from down a set to win at second singles (4-6, 6-4, 6-3).
  • Katherine Almquist won a tight first set at third singles, 6-4, before rolling for a 6-1 win in set two for the sweep.
  • In the fourth match, Ella Provost came out on top in a tight three-set duel (6-4, 6-7, 6-4).
  • Coach Curt Speerschneider: "Solid win vs. a ranked opponent and a good bounce back from last week.  The scores were very similar to last week, but the team showed a bit more confidence closing out sets and matches, which is something we worked on the last week.  This match was a positive step forward as we transition into March."
  • NEXT UP: Skidmore will jump back into Liberty League play on Sunday when it visits Bard at 12 p.m.
