RIT scores late to salvage 1-1 tie with Thoroughbreds

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's soccer team surrendered the tying goal with 2:52 remaining in regulation as RIT and the Thoroughbreds played to a 1-1 tie on Friday.
 
  • The Thoroughbreds pick up a point and move to 0-3-2 in the Liberty League. RIT drops to a tie for second based off other league results, but remain unbeaten in the conference at 3-0-2. Skidmore is 5-3-4 overall. RIT is 5-4-3.
  • Junior Ella Stone scored her fourth goal of the season in the 20th minute to give Skidmore the lead on the road.
  • The Thoroughbreds maintained the lead for nearly 70 minutes of play before Emma Pedro scored from Roberta Moger in the 88th minute to tie it up.
  • The final shot of the game went to Skidmore and Kyra Russman-Araya. Her low drive was saved by RIT Emily Sanchez, one of three saves for the Tiger keeper.
  • Claire Wolgast made one save for the Thoroughbreds.
  • Overall, RIT finished with a narrow 9-8 edge in shots. Shots on goal were 4-2 Skidmore.
  • RIT had eight corner kicks, including the one leading to the tying goal. Skidmore had three.
NEXT UP: Skidmore finishes the road trip on Saturday at the new league leader Ithaca. The Bombers were 1-0 winners against Union on Friday.
