Swimmers/Divers end dual meet season at RPI

TROY, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving teams closed out the dual portion of their schedules at Rensselaer. The Engineers won the men's meet 187-104, while the women defeated the Thoroughbreds 189-110. The men finish 7-1, while the women are 6-2.
  • Lizzie Day had an outstanding meet with first place finishes in the 50 Free (25:05) and 100 Fly (59.51) and a second in the 200 Free (1:59.38).
  • Rachel Olson was second in the 100 Breast (1:11.95), 200 Breast (2:32.55) and 100 IM (1:05.52). April Cook was third in the 1000 Free (11:46.48) and 500 Free (5:46.80).
  • Ginny Hunt had a pair of second place finishes in the 100 Back (1:03.82) and 200 Back (2:16.36).Gretchen Gwitt was second in the 200 Fly (2:19.47) and third in the 100 Fly (1:03.22).
  • Elissa Miller finished third in the 100 Back (1:06.13). Lydia Walker was second in the 100 Free (57.52). Ella Palmet placed third in the 100 IM (1:06.42) and Sophia May was second in the 1M Dive (225.15).
  • On the men's side: Ryan Delfico tied for first in the 50 free (22.90) and was second in the 500 Free(5:04.69), and second in the 100 IM (56.83).
  • Brandon Lis won the 200 Back (2:03.71).
  • Nic Sodi was second in the 200 Back (2:06.84) and third in the 1000 Free (10:23.78) and 100 IM (57.73).
  • Brendan Lu finished third in the 200 Fly (2:05.89) and second in the 100 Fly (53.54).
  • Liam Keating took second in the 100 Breast (1:00.79) and 200 Breast (2:18.95). Gavin Schiavi was third in the 50 (23.29).
  • Kyle Heise was third in the 100 Free (52.38). Keegan Scharoun was third in the 200 Back (2:07.44) and Miles Herman took third in the 500 Free (5:10.60).
  • Coach Jill Greenleaf: "Our team competed with a renewed sense of purpose today against RPI. We had a significant number of season bests and even some lifetime bests despite still being on our winter training regimen. With rest and taper upon us soon, I'm eager to see what might be possible at Liberty League championships!"
  • The Thoroughbreds host the Skidmore Sprint Invite on Jan. 28 before competing in the Liberty League Championships Feb. 15-18 at Ithaca College.
