VERONA, N.Y.—Skidmore's
Sean Hurley aced the par-four 16
th hole on the Turning Stone Shenendoah Course in the Liberty League Championships. The Thoroughbreds are in the hunt for the tournament title and the NCAA bid that goes with it. Skidmore shot a second-round 294 for a 589 total. NYU (297-286—583) is in first and RPI (301-292—593). The tournament concludes Sunday.
- Hurley won the mental toughness game, shaking off a triple on 15 with a perfect shot on the 291-yard 16th. The hole has averaged 4.16 stokes over the first 36 holes, with only 12 birdies. He finished with a two-over 74 for a two-day total of 148, tying him for fifth. It was also the first Skidmore ace in Liberty League championship play.
- Kevin McGough (73-70—143) had three straight birdies on the back nine and is tied for second. John Guerrera (74-75—149) is tied for seventh with Will Tone (74-75—149). Tone went birdie-par-birdie to finish his round. Harry Grosso (76-76—152) also went birdie-par-birdie and sits tied for 15th.
- Skidmore begins final round play at 1:10 p.m. The Thoroughbreds will again be grouped with NYU and Rensselaer.
