Golfers tied for first at Farmingdale Spring Invitational

FARMINGDALE, N.Y.—The Skidmore College put together its best round of the season to stand tied with NYU at 289 after the first round of the Farmingdale State College Invitational being played at the par-70 Bethpage Red Course. The tournament concludes Sunday.
 
  • Sean Hurley leads the Thoroughbreds and is alone in first place after a first-round 69. He had five birdies, including three on the back nine. He was the lone player under par.
  • Husson University is third at 293, six strokes in front of RPI (299) in the seven-team event.
  • Kevin McGough and Harry Grosso are tied for fifth at 72. Grosso birdied two of his final five holes.
  • Corey Carter is tied for 22nd at 76 and Cole Vacca is tied for 30th at 80.
  • Playing as independents, Will Tone is tied for fifth with 72 and John Guerrera is one stroke back in 10th.
  • Skidmore is set to start play at 10:45 a.m. Sunday with Farmingdale, RPI and NYU.
