SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Playing outdoors at home for the first time since Oct. 1, the 19^th ranked Skidmore College women's tennis downed Bates College 6-3 in a nonleague match.The Thoroughbreds are 6-3, while Bates is 2-5.

• Skidmore found itself down 2-1 after doubles. The number two team of Lily Feldman and Audrey Soohoo earning the key win, 8-6 against Abigail Zerbey and Joanna Atwater.
• Feldman keyed a 5-1 singles advantage with her three-set win at number two singles over Atwater, 6-3, 4-6, 6-0.
• Chanhtel Thongphok won her match at number five, 6-0, 6-0 over Elizabeth Frekko.
• Skidmore travels to Liberty League rival Ithaca College on Sunday for a 1 p.m. contest.

Coach Curt Speerschneider: "Solid win over a very solid Bates team.  We started very slow out of the gates in doubles and our seniors at #2 had to bail us out of being on the wrong side of doubles sweep.  The team responded well in singles to get the decisive win.  We knew this season would be a grind and this match held true to that.  Lots to continue to work on, especially in doubles, in the next few matches starting with a trip to Ithaca on Sunday."
