MATCHUP:
  • Skidmore tied Vassar, 0-0, and won in penalty kicks to send the Thoroughbreds to the title game for the first time since 2016.
  • Bobby Stratts had three saves in the shootout. Ethan Slager, Finn Weber, and Kamal Ibrahim all scored on their PK attempts.
  • Michael McDougal scored for nationally 15th-ranked St. Lawrence in the semifinal on Friday against RIT. The 56th-minute goal gave the Saints a 1-0 win. Ben Woelfinger stopped all eight shots he saw for SLU.
  • Skidmore is in search of its first Liberty League title. The Thoroughbreds have appeared in four championship games and three in a four-year period from 2013-16 (2006, 2013, 2015, 2016).
  • St. Lawrence is looking to complete its title defense. St. Lawrence has won 10 Liberty League titles (2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2021).
 
SERIES:
  • On Oct. 22 in Saratoga Springs, St. Lawrence was victorious 2-1. Shane Hauck and Antonio Rogliano scored for the Saints. Ethan Kilmnick scored for the Thoroughbreds.
  • St. Lawrence leads the all-time series, 31-3-2.
  • Skidmore and St. Lawrence have met in postseason play three times: 2013, 2015, 2017.
  • SLU defeated Skidmore in both the 2013 and 2015 finals in Canton.
  • Each of the past fix meetings since Skidmore's 2-0 victory in 2016 have been decided by one goal.  
 
SKIDMORE:
  • Since the lost to St. Lawrence on Oct. 22, Skidmore is 3-0-1 and has not allowed a goal (nearly 447 minutes).
  • Ibrahim has 15 goals and is tied for the Skidmore all-time single-season goal record.
  • Weber and Kilmick have both scored three times. Weber also leads the team with three assists.
  • Stratts earned his fourth consecutive shutout in Friday's semifinal. He has seven on the year. The senior has played in every game for the Thoroughbreds and is 9-3-6 with a 0.77 goals-against average and a .873 save percentage.
  • Skidmore brings a goal differential of +18 into the final.
  • Skidmore is currently ranked fifth in the DIII Region III Rankings.
 
ST. LAWRENCE:
  • St. Lawrence has won each of its last four games and is unbeaten over its last 14.
  • The Saints' only loss came to Oneonta on the road on Sept. 10.
  • St. Lawrence has three players with over 20 points. Marvin Sibanda is the leading point-getter with eight goals and six assists for 22 points. Sam Pijpers leads the team with nine goals and has three assists. Miles Levy leads the squad with 10 assists. He also has five goals.
  • Ben Woelfinger has posted eight shutouts in goal for SLU. He is 11-1-3 with a 0.73 goals-against average and a .883 save percentage.
  • The Saints have outscored their opponents 41-16 (+25).
  • St. Lawrence is currently ranked fourth in the DIII Region III Rankings.
 
NEXT:
  • The winner earns the Liberty League's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Both teams are candidates for at-large berths.
