Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Thoroughbreds come from behind to tie Vassar 2-2

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Down 2-0 at the half, the Skidmore College men's soccer team rallied back for a 2-2 Liberty League tie Saturday afternoon at Wachenheim Field. The result keeps the Thoroughbreds unbeaten in league play with a 2-0-2 league and 5-1-4 overall record. The Brewers are 3-0-1 and 7-3-1 overall.
  • Vassar scored first on a Duncan Keker long roller that found its way into the net at 13:48. The Brewers beat the halftime horn with Kyle Lopes scored his first goal of the season at 44:58.
  • It was a different second half. Skidmore quickly countered off a Vassar restart deep in Thoroughbred territory. Kamal Ibrahim got loose in the midfield, stripping a panicked Brewer defender who failed on an attempt to get the ball back to his goalie. Ibrahim made a couple of quick moves and planted the ball in the back of the net for the first goal at 67:23.
  • The league's leading scorer, Ibrahim converted a penalty at 72:17 for a 2-2 tie and his 10th goal of the season and his fourth two-goal game this year.
  • Vassar led in shots 15-11 and corners 4-3. Bobby Stratts had five saves for Skidmore, while Eric Wnorowski had four for Vassar.
  • Unbeaten at home (2-0-2), the tie extends the team's unbeaten streak to seven (4-0-3).
  • The two goals are the most Skidmore has allowed this season.
  • NEXT UP: A Liberty League road trip to Ithaca on Oct. 14 and RIT on Oct, 15.
