Oneonta, N.Y. – The Skidmore College equestrian Team won its season opener at Hartwick College Saturday, besting the field of eight school with a score of 45 points. SUNY Cobleskill took Reserve Champion with 29 points.
The Thoroughbreds started the day with a sweep of the Open Equitation over Fences. Senior Co-Captain
Emily Gilbert took the win, with Kenya Sanders in second and Sophia Oliviero third. The blue ribbons kept coming with co-captain
Sydney Jasny winning her Limit Equitation over Fences. Harper Sanford brought in the first win on the flat, winning the Open Equitation on the Flat. Sanders won the Intermediate Equitation on the Flat, and Jasny won her Limit Equitation on the Flat. Jasny would go on to win the Reserve High Point Rider title. The day finished with a win for
Casey Koochagian in the Novice Equitation, and Aurora Xu winning her Introductory Equitation.
The team finished the day with a total of seven blue ribbons, getting the team's annual Blue Ribbon Challenge Fundraiser off to a flying start. To participate in the Blue Ribbon Challenge and support the Riding Team, contact Head Coach
