Ibrahim, Stratts sweep Liberty League awards

TROY, N.Y. – After road wins over #19 Clarkson and Rensselaer, two players from the Skidmore College men's soccer team have received Liberty League weekly awards. Junior Kamal Ibrahim was named the Offensive Player of the Week and senior Bobby Stratts earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.

For Ibrahim, who already has been recognized on the Honor Roll twice, it is his first Offensive Performer of the Week honor. He scored in the 21st minute for the Thoroughbreds on the road at nationally 19th-ranked Clarkson on Wednesday to lead the team to a 1-0 victory.

It was the eighth goal of the year for Ibrahim, who leads the team in scoring. He also leads the Liberty League in goals, game-winning goals with three, and is tied for the league lead with 16 points.

Stratts did not allow a goal all week. He made four saves to help Skidmore beat Clarkson on Wednesday and came back with one more in Saturday's victory at RPI. The first two shutouts of the year for Stratts improved the Thoroughbreds' overall record to 5-1-3.

Stratts has allowed one goal or fewer in each of the team's nine games. He has a 0.78 goals-against average and a .873 save percentage.

Skidmore (2-0-1) is tied for second in the Liberty League and will host first-place Vassar (3-0) on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.
