Hughes hits 100 point mark in 3-2 OT Win at Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y.—The playoff bound Skidmore College field hockey team looked in post season form in a 3-2 overtime win at SUNY Cortland Saturday afternoon. The Thoroughbreds will take a 12-8 record into the Liberty League playoffs. The Red Dragons are 12-4.
 
  • Skidmore senior Carrie Hughes became the 17th player in program history to reach the 100-point career mark. In only 61 games, she has 40 goals and 23 assists for 103 points.
  • Hughes set-up the game-winner with a slick pass to Morgan Sickels, who deflected the ball into the cage.
  • The Thoroughbreds took an early 2-0 lead. Hughes scored from in front at 3:04 from CC Wetter and then she tallied again at 5:01 off a deflection from a long assist from Kayla Hassett.
  • The Red Dragons battled fought back to tie it with a pair of second half goals.
  • Skidmore's defense withstood three consecutive penalty corners in the OT before taking control and scoring the winner.
  • Victoria Bodnar had 10 saves for the Thoroughbreds. Brooke Golden had a defensive save.
