SARATOGA SPRNGS, N.Y.— The Skidmore College women's soccer team dropped its first game of the season, 1-0 to Mount St. Mary College, Friday afternoon at Wachenheim Field.
Â
An unfortunate series of defensive mishaps led to an own goal in the 66
th minute was all the scoring the Knights would need.
Â
The Thoroughbreds carried the play for the entire game, but couldn't solve MSM keeper Caroline Brucato, who had 14 saves for the shutout.
Â
Skidmore had a 26-5 shot and 5-2 corner advantage. The team's best scoring opportunity came on a penalty kick in the 63
rd minute. The original shot caught the left goalpost and came straight out for a second attempt that missed the target.
Â
Ava Keller had three saves for the Thoroughbreds.
Â
Skidmore travels to Mount Holyoke College Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest.
