Riding honors its senior class


Note: In absence of traditional Senior Days, there will be a team-by-team salute to senior athletes of the Class of 2021. The presentations were prepared with head coach input.
 
Congratulations Skidmore College riding Class of 2021.
 
Maddie Claman is a psychology major and Italian minor from Short Hills, N.J. As a four-year member of the riding team Maddie had many successes, including being 5th at Regionals for Walk-Trot-Canter in 2019.  Throughout her career she has always been empathetic and supportive of her fellow teammates, Maddie strives to be a connector on our team, for all these reasons Maddie was a co-captain her Senior year. After graduation, Maddie plans to work in the psychology field for a year before attending NYU's MA in Psychology program in Fall 2022.
 
Carly Stirewalt is a music major and education minor from New Paltz, N.Y. While she was both a transfer student and her time was cut short again due to COVID, her showings on the Riding Team yielded great results. After graduation she will be moving to Virginia to be an assistant trainer at Jason Berry Stables. 
 
Abby Kaye is an education and mathematics major from Columbus, Ohio.  Abby is a three-year member of the Riding Team.  During her tenure on the Riding Team Abby contributed many wins helping the Team win the Regional Championship title every year. After Graduation Abby will be moving to North Carolina where she will be working at Cannon School as the High School Math Teaching Fellow.
 
Daphne Mollod is a business major from New York, N.Y. As a transfer student, she came onto the team her Sophomore year and picked up multiple wins for the team in Limit Fences and Flat, qualifying for regionals her Junior season. Throughout her three years on the team, Daphne has been a dedicated team member, both in and out of competition. She has strived to encourage an environment of support and cohesion among team members and is thankful for all of the connections she made with her teammates, both two and four-legged. Daphne will be staying in Saratoga Springs post-graduation and will be working for LRT Sports as a Business Development Associate.  
 
Annika Smith is a health and human physiological science major from Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J. Annika is a four-year member of the riding team. Throughout her career she won many classes for the team in Limit Flat and Fences ultimately qualifying her for Regionals her Junior season. As a co-captain her Senior year, Annika helped the team stay bonded together through a rough time.  After graduation she will be moving to NYC to attend NYU Rory Meyers School of Nursing. 
 
Emily Blunt is a neuroscience and psychology double major from Mexico, N.Y. Emily is a four-year member of the riding team, dedicating eight semesters to working hard both in and out of the barn to better herself as a student, an individual, and an athlete. She has been one of the appointed co-captains for two years and through this leadership position, has been able to maintain cohesion and spirit throughout the team and has always been a role model for her peers. After graduation, Emily will be moving to NYC for a clinical research position at Mount Sinai.
