Thoroughbreds remain unbeaten in league play with 7-2 win over Vassar


SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Another perfect Liberty League regular season for the Skidmore College women's tennis team after a 7-2 win over Vassar College Saturday afternoon.
 
The Thoroughbreds are 5-1 overall and 5-0 in league play. The Brewers are 4-1 overall and in conference.
 
Skidmore will be the top seed for next week's Liberty League Tournament, hosting a semifinal on Wednesday.
 
Risa Fukushige won 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles. The Thoroughbreds had four 6-0, 6-0 single wins.
 
"We competed well today," said Skidmore coach Curt Speerschneider.  "I think we're just happy to have gotten through some good matches and able to have a post-season now.  We're just taking it week by week and match by match and trying to prepare the best we can.  We definitely look forward to being out there to defend our Liberty League title next week and hopefully on to NCAA's after that."
