From the Horse’s Mouth: Skidmore student-athletes launch podcast

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Skidmore Student-Athlete Advisory Committee co-presidents and ice hockey teammates Austin Rook and Brian Kowalski wanted a way for students across campus to learn more about each other and their roles in student leadership.

The vehicle the pair came up with is "From the Horse's Mouth" a monthly podcast that debuted with Episode 1 on March 14. LINK: FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH.

"We wanted to provide a place for students or student groups to come together to learn about each other's experiences and build relationships with one another," Kowalski said. "While we want to have some lighter conversations to get to know students across campus, we eventually would like to include discussions involving faculty and staff surrounding issues of race, equity, and inclusion.

"Each show features a segment called "Skid's Spotlight" which honors a faculty or staff member we feel deserves additional recognition for the work they do at Skidmore," added Kowalski.  "Our aim is to produce a show at least once a month, inviting different community members each time."

The first episode features Bridget Schwartz and Emilie-Anne Choi representing Skidmore's Planned Parenthood Chapter and the Equity Task Force. In addition, Sherry Ankeny, Skidmore's head equipment manager, is showcased as the first "Skid's Spotlight" guest.

The second show is slated for March 28.
