Blanck, McCarney earn Liberty League weekly awards

TROY, N.Y. – Julia Blanck and Kate McCarney from the Skidmore College women's basketball team were tabbed by the Liberty League for weekly awards. Blanck was the Rookie of the Week and McCarney was on the Honor Roll.
 
Blanck had a double-double in Skidmore's 46-42 victory over Williams on the road on Saturday. She tallied a game-high 17 points to go with 10 rebounds (five offensive), three steals, and two blocks.
 
The sophomore also found her way to the foul line 12 times, converting 11 of them (91.67 percent). She was 3-of-9 from the field overall. She was also crucial to the defensive effort, which held Williams to 42 points, before fouling out with just under two minutes remaining.
 
McCarney had 12 points on Saturday on 4-of-14 shooting including 2-of-6 from 3-point range. She also collected four rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 38 minutes of action.
 
McCarney dropped in a layup to give Skidmore a four-point lead with 28 seconds left to halt Williams' comeback attempt. McCarney and the Thoroughbred defensive unit also forced two turnovers over the final 62 seconds of play to ice it.
 
Skidmore will host Russell Sage on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. for its home opener.
