SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Meghan Piser scored both goals for the Union College women's soccer team in a 2-0 Liberty League defeat of Skidmore College on Wednesday evening.
Â
Skidmore is 7-6-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the Liberty League. Union took a stranglehold on a playoff spot, now with a 4-3-1 (T-4) conference record and 7-7-2 overall. Â
Skidmore was in control of possession for most of the first half but saw itself down one going into the break due to a 40
th-minute goal from Piser. Hanna Raymond took a free kick from near midfield, which bounced over the Thoroughbred defense and to Piser's boot. She shot across her body to the left side to beat Keller. She added insurance in the 73
rd minute when she scored on her own rebound off a corner kick taken by Fiona Zimmerman.
Â
The Dutchwomen snuffed out any Thoroughbred comeback attempt down the stretch. Skidmore had three shots and just one on goal after Union's second goal.
Â
Shots finished 14-13 Skidmore.
Ella Stone led all players with four shots, all on goal.
Kyra Russman-Araya had three shot attempts. Bella Dworkin had three for the visitors, as did Piser.
