RESULTS
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened the 2021-22 season with a convincing sweep of St. Lawrence.
The women won 167-126, while the men finished on top 186-58.
The Thoroughbreds started strong with both teams winning the 200 Medley Relay.
Chloe Kim,
Rachel Olson,
Lizzie Day and
Elissa Miller swim to victory with a 1:57.69, while
Keegan Scharoun,
Alex Jefferson,
Jonah LeCompte and
Gavin Schiavi teamed to win the men's event (1:44.83)
Rachel Olson won three individual events, 100 Breast (1:10.85), 200 Breast (2:33.72) and 200IM (2:20.73).
Lizzie Day won the 100 Fly (1:02.66) and had second place swims in the 200 (2:01.93) and 100 Free (56.57).
Caroline Rogers won the 200 Fly (2:29.45), while
Chloe Cummings touched second (2:36.44).
Valuable depth points were earned in the distance events, with
April Cook,
Lila Campbell and
Chloe Cummings, going 2-3-4 in the 1000 and Cook,
Emily Czelusniak and Campbell doing the same in the 500.
Chloe Kim had a strong swim to finish second in the 200 Back (2:22.98).
Nick Sodi swam fast early season times to win both the 1000 (10:09.16) and 500 Freestyle (5:02.82), while
Jonah LeCompte won both the 200 Fly (2:16.92) and 100 Fly (56.23).
Ethan Hull won the 200 Free (1:58.97), while
Will Quinn took the 100 Free (52.84).
Cyrus Cheung also won the 200 IM (2:11.75).
Sophia May recorded her first two college victories, winning 1M (201.90) and 3M (161.85)
Noah Fryou also took first in each diving event (1M 139.95, 3M 128.85).
"Tonight's meet was a strong start to our season," said Skidmore coach
Jill Greenleaf. "We were able to showcase much of our increased team depth on both teams!
"We had a significant number of swimmers record lifetime bests and we're excited to see how much more we all improve over the course of the season. Our team demonstrated grit, toughness and enthusiasm tonight as we swam and dove to two exciting team victories."
The Thoroughbreds are at Clarkson on Oct. 30 for a 1 p.m. meet.
