SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College field hockey team lost its first Liberty League game of the season, 3-0 to 19
th ranked Vassar College Saturday at Wagner Park.

The loss drops the Thoroughbreds to 5-5 and 1-1 in league play. The Brewers are 8-2 and 1-1.

Vassar came right at Skidmore from the start, pouring five shots on goal and earning eight penalty corners in the first quarter. The Thoroughbred defense held with
Jess Gaetgens stopping all five attempts on goal.

The Brewers continued to attack in the second quarter when Maggie Werner tipped in a shot by Hailey Brigger off a corner at 18:52. Vassar closed out the half when Brigger scored on another corner from Kaite Hieb at 27:08.

Skidmore came alive in the third quarter with three scoring chances, but the Brewers held to maintain the 2-0 lead into the fourth quarter.

Ella Pearl scored an insurance goal at 49:53 for the 3-0 final.

Vassar out shot Skidmore 12-3 and had a 15-3 corner advantage.

Gaetgens finished with six saves. Sarah Dumaresq had three saves for the shutout.

The Thoroughbreds are right back at it on Oct. 3 with a non-conference road game at Nazareth.
