CLAREMONT, Fla.—The Skidmore College softball team split on its final day of completion with a 3-1 loss to Carnegie Mellon and a 9-2 win over Juniata College.
The Thoroughbreds finish the abbreviated season at 5-5. Carnegie Mellon is 7-5, while Juniata is 4-3.
GAME 1
Meghan Robertson had a RBI single in the second inning to account for the Skidmore run. She reached base all four at bats, going 3-3 with a walk.
Hannah Davis,
Kaitlyn Judd, and
Maddie Nelson each singled. Davis went all seven innings for the decision. She allowed three runs on nine hits with six strikeouts.
GAME 2
Skidmore rebounded to win the second game against Juniata, a last minute replacement for Oswego. The Thoroughbreds broke open a 1-1 game with four in the sixth and four more in the seventh to finish with nine runs on 16 hits.
Dana Ragen was 3-4 with two doubles and an RBI.
Megan White,
Melissa Mathias, Katie Wilkie, and
Maddie Nelson had two hits each. Nelson contributed three runs and two RBI.
Emily Popp picked up the win. She tossed six innings, allowing one run on five hits, no walks, and three strikeouts.
