Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Centore scored 32 to lead Thoroughbreds to season ending win.

GENEVA, N.Y. – Jessica Centore scored a career-high 32 points and the Skidmore College women's basketball team posted an impressive 71-65 win over playoff bound William Smith College on the road Saturday afternoon.

The Thoroughbreds finish the season at 7-18 and 5-13 in the Liberty League, while the Herons move to 14-12, 10-9.

In addition to the points, Centore had eight rebounds and two steals. Clare Driscoll added 15 points, while Kate McCarney contributed 12 points for the Thoroughbreds.

The Herons were led by Olivia Parisi in scoring who finished with 20 points. Stavriana Dimitrakopoulou finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead in the paint for the Herons.

The game was tight through the first two quarters, as the Herons went into the locker room with a slight 31-25 lead over the Thoroughbreds.

Coming out of the break the Thoroughbreds found their groove as they outscored the Herons 22-13. Centore hit a good jumper in the first seconds of the half to start off a 5-0 scoring run for the Thoroughbreds to put them within one point. With 7:23 remaining, Skidmore was able to take the lead and eventually go up by four points off a made three pointer by McCarney with 6:33 remaining. In the last minute, a good free throw by McCarney would give the Thoroughbreds their largest lead of the quarter at 47-42.

The Herons fought back in the fourth quarter, regaining a slight advantage on Skidmore, 51-49, with 7:33 remaining. However, late made free throws put Skidmore back on top. Although it was closer in scoring in the fourth quarter, the Thoroughbreds were able to hang onto their lead and finish the season with the 71-65 win.
