ITHACA, N.Y.— The Skidmore College men's and women's swimming and diving team opened the Liberty League championships by setting a pair of program records Wednesday in Ithaca.

The Rochester Institute of Technology leads the women with 303 points, with the Thoroughbreds sixth with 112. Rensselaer is the men's leader with 417 points. Skidmore is seventh with 95. The four-day event continues Thursday.

Rachel Olson set a new college record in the 200 IM with her 8th place finish in prelims (2:10.61), and moved up a spot to finish 7th overall. Her finals swim lowered the college record to 2:10.03.

Seniors
Meredith Wagner andÂ
Elizabeth Levy both swam lifetime bests and moved up in the 200 IM finals. Wagner finished 12th (2:14.00) and Levy placed 17th (2:15.58). Â
Abbi Brown also dropped time to finish 20th (2:20.65).Â

Lexi Benfante, Olson,
Brooke Edwards and
Olivia Czelusniak finished 6th in a college record 1:52.93.Â

In the women's 500 Free, freshman
Lizzie Day finished 23rd (5:26.79), whileÂ
Brooke Edwards also swam to 23rd in the 50 free with a lifetime best of 25.69. Â

For the men,
Miles Herman Seeded ninth going into 500 free finals, maintained his position with a strong last 100 to out touch his competitors (4:46.14).

Nick Meconiates and
Carl Mellqvist swam fast enough in prelims to qualify for the bonus final in the 50 free. Mellqvist swam a personal best (22.87) to finish 20th, followed closely by Meconiates in 21st (23.01).Â

In 200 IM,
Josh Finkelman-Mahoney was just outside scoring, but dropped over 3 seconds for a lifetime best time (2:06.75), and was immediately followed by
Brian Borchard who also swam a personal best (2:08.08).Â

Diver
Noah Fryou finished 11th in 3 Meter Diving (237.65).Â
