Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Skidmore tops Lasell 4-1, improves to 2-0

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – A pair of late goals finished off a weekend sweep for the Skidmore College men's soccer team on Saturday. The Thoroughbreds defeated Lasell by a 4-1 score in non-league action at Wachenheim Field.

Skidmore is off to a 2-0 start after a pair of 4-1 victories against Lasell and Keuka. Lasell drops to 0-2 on the young season. Skidmore has scored four or more goals in its last four regular season contests dating back to last season.

It was a balanced scoring effort in Saturday's contest. Max Moran, David Braman, and Brady Trenchard each scored their first goals of the season. Stanley Langyintuo capped the Thoroughbred scoring and a strong weekend with his fifth goal of the season. Braman and Isaac Myran added assists. The Skidmore defense made it easy for Sebastian Bosch, who earned his second win of the season.

Simon Nigro scored Lasell's lone goal on a penalty kick. Chris Tran and Zack Laware combined for 13 saves in net. The Thoroughbreds outshot the Lasers by a dominating 34-2 margin.

Skidmore nearly got on the board in the first few minutes. Off a corner kick on the right side, Kyle Barrett fed Langyintuo with a short pass, as he flicked it into a crowded box. Finn Weber headed the chance, but Tran reached out for an impressive save.

The Thoroughbreds later converted in the 39th minute. On the attack, Moran took a shot from just inside the box on the left side that hit the far post. Moran got the lucky bounce as he slotted the rebound low past goalie on the same far side. Four minutes later, Alex Ricci had a breakaway chance at goal, but was fouled inside the box and earned a penalty opportunity for the Thoroughbreds. Braman lined up the ensuing penalty shot, beating the keeper to the right.

Lasell made it a game just after halftime in the 52nd minute. This time, the Lasers were awarded the penalty kick after an aggressive play in the box. Nigro converted on the ensuing shot, beating Bosch to the left.

The Thoroughbreds turned up the pressure on offense, getting the third goal on a Trenchard finish in front of net in the 69th minute. Braman whiffed on an initial volley in the box on the left side, but he recovered the ball and wisely found Trenchard in front of goal. In the 74th minute, a short feed by Myran found a sprinting Langyintuo on the right side, as he beat the defender to the spot, slotting a quick shot past the goalie on the far side to finish the scoring.

Skidmore will continue its homestand next weekend, as it hosts the Skidmore Alumni Invitational Sept. 7-8. The Thoroughbreds will take on St. John Fisher College at 3 p.m., following the contest between Oswego and Richard Stockton (12 p.m.). The Saturday winners will meet in the championship game on Sunday at 2 p.m., while the two losers will face in the consolation game at 11 a.m.
