SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—The Skidmore College softball team came away with a home split with Utica College Sunday at Wagner Park. The Thoroughbreds won the first game 5-2 and dropped the second 3-2.
Skidmore (4-7) was the "visiting" team for the games that were scheduled to be played in Utica (5-7).
GAME 1
Emily Popp pitched and hit her team to the win. Popp (2-3) allowed one earned run on five hits with no walks and two strikes for the complete game win. At the plate, she went 2-4. Hannah Paolucchi was 1-3 with three RBI, including a sacrifice fly and a two-run single in the third.
Kaitlyn Judd was 1-1 with three walks and a two-run single in Skidmore's four-run third.
The Thoroughbreds drew 10 walks, including seven in the first three innings.
GAME 2
Skidmore took a 3-0 lead after two innings, before Utica got one back in the third and then scored three in the fifth for the 4-3 win and split.
Genesis Delgado was 2-4 with two-run double in the second.
Delaney Corbet was 2-4 and Hannah Paolucchi was 1-4 with an RBI single in the first.
Hannah Davis (1-2) took the loss. She gave up four runs on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts. She only allowed one ball out of the infield in the first four innings.
The Thoroughbreds are back in action at home on Wednesday with a make-up pair against Cazenovia College.
