Red Dragons edge Thoroughbreds 2-1

Box Score CORTLAND, N.Y.— SUNY Cortland broke a 1-1 tie in the third quarter for a 2-1 non-league field hockey win over Skidmore College. It was the final regular-season game for both teams.
 
Skidmore (12-8) is the top seed in the upcoming Liberty League tournament and will host 4th seed Vassar in a semifinal on Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. Cortland (14-3) will host a SUNYAC semifinal on Wednesday.
 
The Red Dragons led 1-0 in the eighth minute off a corner. Skidmore tied it later in the quarter when Sarah Winters scored her fifth goal of the season from Sofia Marshall on a long blast from the right side.
 
Cortland got the game winner in the 33rd minute.
 
Skidmore controlled the play for most of the contest, outshooting the Red Dragons 24-9 to go along with an 8-6 corner edge.
 
Maddy Carre had four saves.
