SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— The Skidmore College field hockey team scored three first half goals on the way to a 3-1 nonleague win over Nazareth College Sunday at Wagner Park.
It was the third straight win for the Thoroughbreds (6-5), while the Golden Flyers fall to 5-7.
Mariah Redler scored her second goal in as many games since returning to the lineup this weekend, giving Skidmore a 1-0 lead at 13:38. She settled a high ball in front and put it past Nazareth goalie Amanda Chuttey.
Jordan Mjaatvedt upped the score to 2-0 at 23:26 off a rebound scramble in front.
Sarah Winters assisted. Redler then sent a streaking Vaccaro in on a solo breakaway. Vaccaro beat Chuttey for a 3-0 advantage going into the half.
Nazareth scored the lone goal of the second half. Jennifer Hilts put back a rebound off her own shot for her seventh goal of the season at 43:28.
Madeleine Michaels and Vaccaro had defensive saves for the Thoroughbreds.
Skidmore outshot Naz 24-13 and had a 15-9 corner edge.
Jess Gaetgens earned the win with six first half saves.
Maddy Carre played the second half and had two saves. Â Chuttey had seven saves over the first 30:00 for Nazareth, while Jessica Holtz had six saves without allowing a goal in the second half.
Skidmore is at Williams Oct. 8 for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
