MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Skidmore College women's tennis team was dominant in its NCAA opener, defeating Yeshiva College 5-0 in the NCAA Tournament First Round match, held at the Proctor Courts on the campus of Middlebury College Thursday morning.
Skidmore (16-5), ranked 18
th in the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III poll of the regular season, will move on to the second round and will face the Nichols/Wilkes winner on Friday at 8:30 a.m. Yeshiva, making its NCAA Tournament debut, finishes the season at 10-4.
The Thoroughbreds put up a dominant performance against the Skyline Conference champions, shutting the Maccabees out in the three doubles matches.

Renee Karchere-Sun and
Ada Wiggins, and
Jessica Ampel and
Alexa Goldberg each pitched 8-0 shutouts at No. 1, 2, and 3, respectively.
In singles, Wiggins picked up her 18
th victory on the season, defeating Rebecca Parker in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.
Jackie Ahn would close the match with a strong 6-0, 6-1 performance at No. 6 against Michal Ladenheim, earning her eighth singles victory of the season.
