Thoroughbreds dominate in 152-87 victory over Utica

MEET RESULTS

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's swimming and diving team bounced back with a dominant performance in the pool, defeating Utica 152-87, in dual meet action at the Williamson Sports Center Saturday afternoon.
 
Skidmore improves to 2-3 on the season, while Utica falls to 5-5.
 
Meredith Wagner won a pair of events for the Thoroughbreds individually. She began with a victory in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:14.71. Emily Favreau finished second in 1:18.85. She later won the 100-yard freestyle event, winning in a sub-one minute time of 59.06. Teammate Grace Howard finished second in 1:02.53.
 
Other individual winners include Chloe Cummings, who rode a strong start in the 200-yard freetstyle event to victory, winning in 2:11.31. Joanie Estabrook, who touched first in the 100-yard backstroke. The freshman finished in 1:11.43, with Madison Collins right behind in 1:13.16. Elizabeth Levy won the 200-yard butterfly event, besting teammate and second-place finisher Ashley Ramsay (3:23.65) with a winning time of 2:27.95. Levy also had a strong finish in the 400-yard IM (5:07.65). Olivia Czelusniak led a 1-2-3 finish for the Thoroughbreds in the 50-yard freestyle, with a winning time of 26.82. Leadora Kyin (27.66) and Natalia Ignatov finished second and third, respectively. Stetten outlasted the field in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 1:07.48. Olivia Frechette and Samantha Horowitz went 1-2 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Frechette won the event in 11:56.63, while Horowitz finished in second in 12:43.11.
 
Hannah Krall earned points for the Thoroughbreds in a pair of solid performances on the boards, scoring 149.89 points at 3-meters and 150.98 points at 1-meter. On the 1-meter platform, Grace Howard tallied 123.90 points, while Cianna Stovall finished with 107.10 points.
 
In the relay races, the team of Stetten, Alyssa Pacewicz, Czelusniak, and Brooke Edwards won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:01.19. The 'B' team of Estabrook, Emily Favreau, Cummings, and Kyin finished second in 2:08.13, and the 'C' team of Lila Campbell, Alyssa Ramsay, Collins, and Ignatov completed the Skidmore sweep with a third-place finish (2:09.21). In the 200-yard freestyle relay, it was the 'B' team that recorded the fastest time, as Wagner, Ignatov, Campbell, and Ramsay finished in 1:51.45.
 
The Thoroughbreds finish the 2018 calendar year with a trip to Rochester for the Don Richards Invitational on Nov. 30-Dec. 1.
