PITTSFORD, N.Y.—The Skidmore College field hockey team took an early 3-0 lead and never looked back on the way to a 5-2 road win over Nazareth College Sunday afternoon.
It was the third game and third win in four days for the 6-6 Thoroughbreds. Nazareth drops to 6-7.
Skidmore scored three goals in the game's first 16:56 to take a 3-0 lead.
Marissa Folts had two of the three, including a penalty stroke.
Gabby Hyman scored her 10
th goal of the
season for the third goal.
The Thoroughbreds went up 4-0 when
Annabelle Oates scored her first goal of the season. The Flying Eagles added a pair of goals late before
Grace Florsheim closed out the
scoring for Skidmore.
Shots (17-8) and corners (14-7) favored the Thoroughbreds. Skidmore used three goalies.
Elizabeth Coughlin had five saves over 39:55.
Jess Gaetgens had one save over 8:39, while Madeleine Carrre did not have to make a save in 21:28.
The Thoroughbreds host defending Liberty League champion Rochester on Oct. 12 at 4 p.m.
