MEET RESULTS
POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Skidmore College women's swimming and diving team picked up its first victory over the season in dominating fashion, a 193-96 triumph over Potsdam Saturday afternoon.
Both Skidmore and Potsdam finished the weekend at 1-1.
The Thoroughbreds came out of the gates strong with victories in its first two events. In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of
Claire Stetten,
Alyssa Pacewicz,
Elizabeth Levy, and
Brooke Edwards won the event after a strong start, finishing in 1:59.44. The 1,000-yard freestyle saw a 1-2-3 finish by the Thoroughbreds, as
Emily Favreau (11:58.29) finished in dominating fashion, followed by
Joanie Estabrook (12:38.45) and
Samantha Horowitz (12:51.27).
In all, Skidmore won 11 of 16 events to ensure the victory. Pacewicz added to a successful day with a pair of individual victories in the 100-(1:15.13) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:42.93).
Annie McDermott swam a lifetime-best 1:19.71 in the 100-yard event, placing third.
Olivia Czelusniak and
Olivia Frechette went 1-2 in the 50-yard freestyle, with Czelusniak (27.08) barely beating out Frechette (27.17). Frechette also finished second (5:48.44) in the 500-yard freestyle, this time to Levy, who won the event in 5:45.98. Edwards and
Meredith Wagner also went 1-2, as Edwards (59.19) barely out touched Wagner (59.80) in the 100-yard freestyle. In another close battle, Stetten (1:07.99) edged out Czelusniak (1:08.30) in the 100-yard butterfly, as the Thoroughbred swimmers finished 1-2. Rookie
Chloe Cummings edged out her counterpart Edwards in the 200-yard IM,
Other notables included rookie
Leadora Kyin, who picked up a victory in the 200-yard backstroke (2:24.27) and nearly picked up a second, with her second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.
Hannah Krall won her second 3-meter event in as many meets, with a winning score of 197.85. The relay teams also finished well, as the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Czelusniak, Frechette, Edwards, and Stetten won the event in 1:47.00.
Ashley Ramsay also had a lifetime-best time in the 200-yard butterfly (3:21.70).
Skidmore will return to action next Saturday, when it takes on Liberty League foe Vassar in Poughkeepsie at 1 p.m.
