MEET RESULTS
CANTON, N.Y. – The women's swimming and diving team dropped the 2018-19 season opener with a narrow 127-107 loss to Liberty League foe St. Lawrence, held at the Augsbury Pool Friday night.
It was the season opener for both teams.
Claire Stetten led the Thoroughbreds with her victory in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:04.82. She also capped her busy day with a narrow third-place performance in the 50-yard freestyle with 26.72. Her time was just .53 seconds off the winning time of 26.19. She also teamed up with
Meredith Wagner,
Brooke Edwards, and
Olivia Czelusniak, finishing second in the 200-yard medley relay (2:00.03).
Skidmore put up a strong performance in the 100-yard breaststroke, going 1-2-3.
Alyssa Pacewicz earned the victory in the event with a time of 1:16.56. She was followed closely by Wagner, who finished in 1:17.13. Skidmore completed the sweep as
Grace Howard, competing in her first collegiate meet, finished with a time of 1:20.80, placing third.
Skidmore also went 1-2-3 in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of
Emily Favreau,
Leadora Kyin,
Joanie Estabrook and
Olivia Frechette earned points with the win, finishing in 1:51.60. They were followed by
Natalia Ignatov,
Lane Kuska,
Samantha Horowitz, and Howard (1:57.95) while
Annie McDermott,
Alyssa Ramsay,
Ashley Ramsay, and
Alex Cooperman finished in third in 2:00.58.
Olivia Frechette and
Emily Favreau went 2-3 in the 200-yard freestyle, with Frechette (2:09.70) just edging Favreau (2:09.78). Wagner and
Elizabeth Levy repeated the feat in the 200-yard IM, as Wagner (2:29.03) edged out Levy (2:30.83).
On the boards,
Hannah Krall, Skidmore record holder in the 3-meter dive, won her signature event, finishing with a score of 204.50. She also finished second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 161.50.
The Thoroughbreds wrap up the opening weekend with a visit to Potsdam, at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
