RESULTS
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Skidmore College swimming and diving teams wrapped up the home portion of the schedule, falling to RPI on Senior Day, in dual action at the Williamson Sports Center Saturday afternoon.
The Skidmore women (2-4) fell to the undefeated Engineers (8-0) by a 197-95 score. The men (2-4) fell to RPI (6-1) by a 189-92 score.
Before the contest, Skidmore honored its five seniors:
Ruby Thompson,
Ben Rudman,
Josh Karen,
Chris Bonardi, and
Joey Stagliano.
In the pool, Rudman made the most of his senior day with a pair of strong times in the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard breaststroke. The senior picked up a victory in the freestyle with a time of 1:51.03, and had a strong finish in the breaststroke with a time of 2:21.32. He was also part of a 200-yard freestyle relay team with
Harrison Shockley,
Hiro Kamei, and fellow senior Stagliano, who finished the event in 1:32.35. Shockley also posted a solid 55.50 in the 100-yard backstroke.
Lucas Po also had a strong time in the 400-yard IM, finishing in 4:45.01. Other solid swims included
Kyle Hughson, who finished right behind Po in the same event, swimming in 4:51.86. Hughson and Po also finished 2-3 in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing in 10:32.55 and 10:50.81, respectively.
For the women,
Claire Stetten swam strong times in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.06) and the 100-yard freestyle (57.45).
Elizabeth Levy showed a strong final split of 32.29 in her 500-yard freestyle event, earning nine points for Skidmore. She also earned four points in the 200-yard butterfly (2:17.77) and ended her day in the individual events with three additional points in the 400-yard IM (4:55.07).
Olivia Czelusniak finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.24) and swam a 57.54 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Olivia Frechette finished second, picking up four points in the 50-yard freestyle (26.67).
On the boards,
Hannah Krall took second in the 3-meter dive with 211.13 points.
Andrew Klein posted Skidmore's highest score in the men's 1-meter dive, nabbing 213.23 points.
The Thoroughbreds will participate in one more event before the Liberty League Championships late February, participating in the Vassar Sprint Invite next Saturday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m.
