PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. –The Skidmore's offense got going for the second straight contest, as the Thoroughbreds improve to 2-0 with a 3-0 victory at Plattburgh Tuesday afternoon.
The 2-0 record is the best start for the Thoroughbreds since 2012. Plattsburgh drops to 2-1.
Skidmore broke the seal at 35:14, thanks to a nice feed by junior midfielder
Matt Schwab to senior forward
Augustine Okoye. Okoye found space just outside the 18-yard box, firing a high shot to the top right corner for the goal.
In the second half, Skidmore had a chance to double the score, on a penalty kick attempt by Okoye in the 50th minute. His attempt was stopped by the goalkeeper. His kick downfield led to Plattsburgh's best chance of the game, with Alex Price chip attempt on Skidmore sophomore goalkeeper
Sebastian Bosch sailing to the right.
The senior eventually got his second of the game. After
Brennan Mitrolka blocked the Plattsbugh free kick, Okoye took control of the ball in the attacking third. He fed sophomore midfielder
Dario Flores, who gave it back to Okoye at the corner of the penalty box. Okoye's low shot got past the charging keeper for the goal in the 74th minute.
Skidmore wrapped the scoring at 82:19 off a Plattsburgh turnover. Okoye, at the center of the field, found sophomore forward
Kyle Barrett on the wing. Barrett curved the shot from the left side of the 18-yard box into the right corner of the goal for his first of the season.
Bosch made four saves in net to earn his second straight clean sheet. Plattsburgh keeper Patrick Feeley made five saves in the loss.
The Thoroughbreds will head west on Saturday, taking on Geneseo at 6 p.m.
