Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.— Late goals are becoming a habit for the Skidmore College men's soccer team with this week's dramatic tally coming in the 89th minute to salvage a 1-1 overtime Liberty League tie with Rensselaer.

A week ago, Skidmore scored in the 86th minute in a 1-1 tie with Hobart.

The 22nd ranked Thoroughbreds are 4-1-3 overall and 1-0-2 in league play, while the Engineers are 6-2-1 and 1-0-1.

RPI had most of the dangerous chances in the first half. Brandon Pirog scored his third goal of the season with a header off a well placed cross from Austin Betterly at 28:14.

Skidmore's first legitimate scoring opportunity was the one that counted.
Augustine Okoye worked the ball past a pair of RPI defenders, before passing to
David Braman who was denied on a difficult save by Engineer keeper Matt LaBranche.
Shoyo Yanagihara quickly recovered the rebound and scored the equalizer at 88:38.

The Thoroughbreds had a pair of chances to win it in overtime. LaBranche handled a hard head ball attempt by
Brennan Mitrolka in the 94th minute and Yanagihara just missed an open net in the 106th minute.

Skidmore had an 11-9 shot advantage. RPI had two of the game's three corners.

Sebastian Bosch had five saves for the Thoroughbreds, three in the first half. LaBranche finished with three saves for Rensselaer.

Skidmore hosts Elmira College on Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. The Engineers are at St. Lawrence on Oct. 4 at 4 p.m.
