SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The No. 10 Skidmore College field hockey team got its offense going in the second half, pulling away from Union 3-0 in Liberty League action at Frank Bailey Field Saturday.
Skidmore improves to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in league play, winning its 24th match in a row against the Dutchwomen. Union drops to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in league play.
After a scoreless first half,
Marissa Folts opened things up for the Thoroughbreds, tallying the game's first goal at 52:57. Off a Skidmore corner, Meghan Lynch found the junior defender in the middle of the arc, about 12 yards out, as she sank in her attempt.
Still reeling after the first goal, Skidmore tacked on a second one 1:48 later. This time,

Gabby Hyman from about seven yards out. Skidmore finished the scoring binge at 58:33, as
Miranda Davenport's shot from the left side deflected off the defender and past the surprised Union goalie.
Skidmore pounded the cage, outshooting Union, 29-1, and had all 20 penalty corners in the game.
Zoe McGuire needed just one save to preserve her fifth victory and third shutout of the season. Union goalkeeper Heather Poisson made 17 saves in the effort.
The Thoroughbreds finish off their season-long, four-game road trip with a midweek matchup at Williams, on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
