ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – It was a balanced scoring effort for the Skidmore College women's basketball team, as they used a strong second quarter to defeat Bard 62-39 in Liberty League action Friday evening.
The Thoroughbreds improve to 13-7 overall, and stay within striking distance of first place with a 9-2 mark in league play. The Raptors fall to 0-19 and 0-11.
Skidmore also completes a regular season sweep of Bard, having defeated the Raptors 64-36 on Jan. 21 in Saratoga Springs.

Caite Opfer had a big game off the bench, scoring a career-high 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the field, adding six rebounds and three steals. The Skidmore bench had a solid effort, tallying 36 points.
Caleigh DeCaprio led Bard with 15 points, while Annie Kissel added 13 points and six rebounds.
Skidmore trailed 12-9 after one quarter, but the shooting picked up markedly in the second quarter. An 11-3 run to end the first half gave Skidmore a 31-22 lead at the break. After making just 25 percent of their shots from the field in the first quarter, the Thoroughbreds were up to 42 percent by halftime.
It continued in the third quarter, with Skidmore's defense clamping down, holding Bard to just five points, leading to its fourth win in five contests.
The Thoroughbreds will next travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to take on Vassar Saturday at 2 p.m.
